Originally a dream research center, Zwick Architects lifted, transported six blocks, and renovated this building on a new foundation to create a transitional women’s shelter. The shelter provides temporary housing and childcare for women and their children until job skills can be improved and permanent housing obtained.
This non-profit rescue-and-release organization commissioned Zwick Architects to design an exhibit for animals suffering permanent injury preventing their release. Prior to his rescue, Bucky the squirrel had been living in the eaves of a Victorian house. Zwick Architects designed and Industrial Light and Magic built a Victorian cage as a volunteer project.
